GOD
There is one and only one living and true God. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being. God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe.
JESUS
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross, He made provision for the redemption of mankind from sin.
MAN
Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Christ died for man; therefore every person of every race possesses dignity, value, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
SALVATION
Salvation involves the redemption of mankind, and is offered freely to all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. By His own blood, Jesus obtained eternal redemption for all. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification.
PLAN OF SALVATION
Salvation starts by simply recognizing we fall short of what God intends for our lives.
Romans 3:10 tells us "As it is written, there is no one righteous, not even one."
No one can come close to the holy, righteous standards of God. No matter how good we try to be, everyone still sins.
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Thankfully, we do not have to stay in the state of sin. Our creator, God, loved us enough to make a way for us to be forgiven of our sins.
Romans 5:8 "But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."
Why did Jesus come to earth, and die for all sinners? Because we needed a way for the consequences of our sins to be forgiven. We could not do that on our own, and as a result we are bound for eternal separation from our creator because of sin.
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Jesus died for our sins, so our sins could be forgiven for eternity if we believe in Him.
Romans 10:9-10 "If you confess with your. mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will
be saved."
It is as simple as understanding we are sinners, admitting we can do nothing about it on our own, and asking Jesus to take over our life and save us from an eternal separation from God. If we admit our sins, believe in Christ as the one who died for our sins, and confess our sins to God, He will forgive us.
Romans 10:13 "For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved."
There is no special ceremony, no specific prayer, no particular way we have to ask, we just have to call out to Jesus. Salvation truly is that simple. If you have questions about salvation, reach out to Pastor Scott or come visit with us.
